people sometimes don't reply to posts because they don't see them or are too busy. if you have problems, and don't receive a response, try e-mailing the admins at etree(at)archive.org (remove the at and change it to a @ with no ( or ) ..

the program should work just fine. the problem that 99% of the people have is they are using a version of winamp and shnamp that are non-compatible. shnamp v3 doesnt' work with winamp 2 or 5. it states this on the site.

describe more in-depth on your problem: version of shn amp? version of winamp? description of problem? 'it just sits there' ... does that mean you hit play and it doesnt' play? dose it play with no audio output? does it give you an error message?

help us out and we'll help you out.

thank you tylor for the reply.

i have win amp v. 5
and i downloaded shnamp 2.02 and i installed it..
as for what happens.
i go to the folder that i downloaded the file to.
i than right click on the song.
and either just click " open" or click " open with winamp "
then all that happens is the file turns blue a hour glass show for 1 sceond then nothing.
winamp does not open up and no music is played...
i also am not able to send it to play list
also when i open up win amp and click on the shn. file nothing happens no music no nothing
here is a question.
if i downloaded the shn. file b-4 installing wim amp & shn. amp would that make a difference

Hmm, that is weird ...

"here is a question.

no, i don't think it should. what operating system do you have?

you did the right thing: shnamp v2.02 should make it so that winamp 5 plays .shn files .. hmm...

so, if you open winamp, and click 'add' then 'add file' (all at the bottom of the playlist part of winamp) then navigate to a .shn file, and hit 'ok' ... does it even show up in the playlist list in winamp? and if so, when you highlight it and hit 'play' does it go through the playing (slider moves to the right, time numbers count up) but just no audio happens? or does it just sit there and not play at all?

it sounds like something might have gotten funky. a good idea would be to uninstall both winamp 5 and shn amp (go to control panels > add/remove programs) ... and then re-install it again and see if that helps: ( www.winamp.com and http://www.etree.org/shnamp.html ) ...

if all this stuff doesn't work, it is still okay, there are ways to play .shn files not through winamp, but this is just weird since the shn amp is the easiest and most common way to play the files. try re-installing the programs and let me know how that goes.

hope that helps!

oh yeah, and one other thing, maybe try downloading a few other .shn files .. maybe the problem is with the one file you've been trying to play?

my operating system is windows xp home with sp2 installed

the shn. files show up in winamp but when i go to play them the slider does not show up it looks like it should be playing ( a little triangle is next to the time ) and after about 10 seconds it stops ( the square replaces the triangle ) but still no sound or movement

i will uninstall it then reinstall it also i will download more shn. files

thank you for your help

glad you got it to work. that ani .shn probably was corrupted. the files all on this site should be clean and work fine. good taste in music too. i've taped and seen jack johnson probaly 13 times over the past 4 years. great stuff!

if you find a show that has bad files / isn't working / is messed up somehoe, on that show's details page, on the left side on the bottom there is a like that says 'report an error' ... click that, fill it out being as detailed as possible what the problem is and what your operating system / etc is ... and an admin will look into it when they get to it. there are about 300 error reports open right now. -tyler
